The Old Stables is situated in the heart of North Devon, just east of Barnstaple, and its location provides an excellent base for exploring the area, whatever your inclination. 

Whether you are looking for miles of golden, sandy beaches to lie on, roaring surf to ride, stunning coastal cliff-top walks,  the spectacular, rugged nature and wildlife of the moors, cycling, horse-riding, golf, sailing - you will find everything within easy reach.

The cottage is situated just three miles from the boundary of the Exmoor National Park, and between approximately 10 to 15 miles from a top-class selection of North Devon's golden beaches, dunes and coastal towns - Lynton and Lynmouth, Woolacombe, Croyde, Putsborough and Saunton, Braunton Burrows - you will have difficulty finding a better coastline....

For cycling enthusiasts, we are right on National Cycle Route 3, and the Tarka Trail is close by. 

The main North Devon town of Barnstaple is just 6 miles away, with it's selection of national chain and local shops, shopping mall, wide variety of restaurants, library, cinema, leisure centre and swimming pool, first-class tennis centre (indoor and outdoor courts) etc.  and the quaint market town of South Molton is a similar distance in the opposite direction. 

Closer to home, there are a number of villages within 3 to 4 miles - Goodleigh, Bratton Fleming, Swimbridge and Landkey - between them they offer postoffices, a well-stocked Londis store, village pubs and restaurants.
